Happyfish and Trilulilu: a video partnership in 2009

At WebClub in September 2009, Happyfish and Trilulilu announced a partnership. Here is what it involved and why it mattered.

What was announced

On 10 September 2009, at the WebClub event, Happyfish.ro and Trilulilu.ro announced a partnership. Happyfish would place its video content on a dedicated Trilulilu channel, and the two companies would share the advertising revenue. Happyfish also became a kind of “creative boutique” for Trilulilu’s video projects.

Relaunching the site

The partnership came with preparations for a new website, scheduled for 21 September 2009, and a revised weekly schedule with more films per week. In the medium and long term, the plan was to make use of the creative and production capacity, including through advertising projects.

The team

The team kept growing: the press of the time reported new hires. Răzvan Balasa was general director of HappyFish.ro at that point.

Why we remember it

The partnership shows how an online media project was thought about in 2009: original content, distribution through large platforms and shared advertising. That experience stayed with us in how we build digital products today – from our first products to today’s SaaS platforms.
